I'm really sorry, guys, but I have a couple of things this summer that will make me really busy.
1) The week of July 27th--I have a dance intensive every day, and on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, another dance class right after that. I'll be there from 9 AM Eastern US time (2 PM London time) to 7 PM Eastern US time (12 midnight London time). I might be able to get on before class, but I won't be able to go on after, and Wednesday is the only day where I don't have an extra class afterwards. (I included Friday, see below)
2) Friday, August 1st (Yes, the last day of the week mentioned above)--I'm going to Seattle for ten days. I won't be back until the 10th or 11th of August, and I probably won't be able to get on the computer in that time.

*Intakes breath* You dance too!? Yippeeee!!!!!!!!! What styles? I personally like pointe the most but I take all styles in regular classes every day of the week. Once I took class with Sabra from So You Think You Can Dance. It was sooooooo awsome! Who are you taking the intensives with? What style are they? Level? How long are the classes? Sorry I'm just getting overly excited.....

it was mostly ballet (I'm on pointe too! AHHHH!!!!!) but it had jazz and modern stuffed in there. It was just from my dance studio, no need to get all excited. Err . . . . well, it was like an intensive to train for our studio's company. They perform at the high school a couple times and we also have our own production of the Nutcracker every year. I got in (the auditions for company was in September) but then I couldn't manage the schedule because of all the stuff I do at school, so I had to drop company classes. I'm taking the intensive and lots of classes next summer too.

Cool! Yes I definitely like ballet the best, pointework is so fun! What type of shoe do you wear? Right now I'm wearing Russian Pointe with a soft shank. I'm in a ballet company and (YAY!) I'm in the Nutcracker this year too.

I wear Grishko 2007 super soft shank. It has to be super soft because Grishko is naturally like rock, so if you don't get soft or super soft your shoes aren't gonna be broken in for, like, years.

I should get Grishko. My teacher likes Grishko and Freede the best so I think I'll get one of those brands next. My friend Mae has worn the same Grishko for like 2 years and they are still not dead (or broken in)! My feet aren't very archy so I like the soft shank any way just because it is easier to get en pointe. Have you heard of Gaynor Minden? They are great, but we're not allowed to wear them at our studio because our Artistic Director doesn't believe that they are real pointe shoes. I still don't see the reasoning behind that.

I've actually never heard of Gaynor Minden, at least I think so. We're allowed to get anything, I think. Your director is pretty stupid, no offense.

Well I'd say that too but he loves me and is really nice. I think he is just set in his ways. He's been director since like the 1960's. EDIT: Here look at this link. www.dancer.com/whygaynorminden.php

You know, I don't dance ballet anymore - but i did for 3 years or so (I know, i know that's not long, but it is something) and we weren't allowed to do the pointe stuff, because we were too young. Our teacher always keept saying "Just wait till you're 12 or 13 and with a lot more practice you'll be able to do it, too." So I wanted to ask you two if you can do it like on he picture at your link - I know this needs a lot of practice - and how long have you been dancing (from you adalie I know it, but what about you light?)?

This is only my second year on pointe (remember I'm only 13) but I took a lot of classes in the summer so I can do a lot of stuff, I guess. I can sometimes make it on pointe for pirouettes and I can do pique turns and chainee turns pretty well, and other than petite grand battements and really difficult stuff, I can do everything I do on releve in ballet slippers on pointe.

Wow - so you practise a lot for ballet. Didn't your feet hurt when you started on pointe? Pirouettes are cool - especially on pointe. But you're going to try to get into Nutcracker next year - aren't you? That would be really cool.
